1942
The program for the opening production of the 1942 season said it all. "If Mohamet can't come to the mountain, the mountain will come to Mohamet. And so the Bucks County Playhouse of New Hope, PA has come to Philadelphia. Our reasons for moving are obvious - tires and gas must be saved." This was due to World War II and gas rationing. The season ran for 10 weeks at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia. The first production was Private Lives starring Ruth Chatterton. It was followed by Jane Cowl in Old Acquaintance. |
