The second new comedy presented in 1954 was Calder Willingham's The Automobile Man. The play centered around the typical American family consisting of a shy auto salesman (Elliott Nugent) and his wife played by Mildred Dunnock. The wife becomes so busy with her own affairs that her husband becomes the "forgotten" member of the family

Murray Hamilton starred in two productions during the 1954 Season. He appeared in the sixth show of the season, A Burst of Summer as well as starring as Sefton in Stalag 17. The show was a comedy dealing with the American G.I. and had previously been a Broadway smash and hit Hollywood film.

Louis Beachner and Nancy Marshall stared in the French comedy Dame Nature. Playing young Parisian adolescents who fall in love, they soon discover, with astonishment and delight, that they are about to become parents. The cast also included Fredric Tozere, Margit Forssgren, Maurice Shrog and Robert Kocsis.

The Shoemaker's Children starred Dorothy Stickney in the role of Mrs. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and told the story of a woman who has two sons and a daughter to whom she doesn't pay much attention. As the widow of a famous political figure she commands respect but is unprepared to cope with her children's problems. The cast also included Kevin McCarthy, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., Nancy Marchand and William Windom among others.
