The first play, Spoken Dreams Before the Morning starring comedienne, Pat Carroll. The plot centered on a disfunctional family gathered together for the purpose of learning that their mother is dying of cancer. | The second play by Jonathan Daly was The Jericho Killing. The play starred Harrison Page who appeared on the television series, "C.P.O. Sharkey" with Don Rickels. Billed as a contemporary horror story, The Jericho Killing centered on prejudice experienced in a southern town. The show received positive reviews. The Damon Runyon musical fable, Guys and Dolls played in July. The cast featured Playhouse favorites, Tom Quinn as Nathan Detroit, Kim Bantle as Miss Adelaide and David Whiteman as Arvide Abernathy. David again became a Playhouse regular in the 1990's, performing in many productions. |

Also seen in 1978 was Man of La Mancha starring Bob Bolsover as Don Quixote and Jesus Christ Superstar with Bucks County Playhouse owner Ralph Miller portraying Jesus. The Music Man completed the season with Jack Maloney playing con man Harold Hill and Roslyn Gertman as Marian. |
