1993

The "stars" were still appearing at the Bucks County Playhouse during the 1993 Season. The 54th Season at the Bucks County Playhouse featured a roster of musicals, several of which had never been done at the Playhouse previously. City of Angels and Nunsense II: The Second Coming made their Playhouse debuts during that season.

The 1993 Season opened with a Playhouse first! Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar ran during Holy Week. Both productions ran simultaneously, alternating days. Audiences were able to see both shows on one day during the weekend performances. The Superstar (left) cast featured Doug Crawford as Jesus with the ensemble including Playhouse regulars, Hubert Fryman, Jr. and Danny Darquette among others.

The regular season started off with a roar as we mounted the area premiere of Nunsense II: The Second Coming. The production starred Kathy Robinson who originated the role of the Mother Superior in the very first production of Nunsense.

The season continued with two musicals starring Eddie Mekka, Carmine of "Laverne & Shirley" fame. The first was Little Shop of Horrors in which he played nerdy Seymour Krelborn.

Fiddler on the Roof was the second show Eddie starred in during the season. He received rave reviews for his portrayal of Tevye. Audiences enjoyed his performance so much that he came back in 1996 to play the role again.

City of Angels starring Barry Williams (Greg Brady of "The Brady Bunch") and Kathryn Kinley made its Playhouse debut in 1993. Williams had just come off the national tour playing Stine, the role he recreated for our production. Photo on the left is Kelli Cooke and Barry Williams. Photo on the right is Kathryn Kinley.

Rounding out the season was Evita, Sugar Babies starring Mimi Hines, 42nd Street, Phantom, A Chorus Line and A Christmas Carol.
